God of Crime: Strongest Mafia Boss

Chapter 507 CH 491: I AM NOT USELESS RIGHT?

She gave a side glance at Luvia when she spoke of the low-level hunters before focusing on Adam once more, continuing her words, "The church is also acting and sending a few of our best executioners on the city and I was supposed to go with them."

"But?"

She chuckled to herself, "In just little under six weeks' time, there have been so many Calamity class events in Los Angeles, and in all those… you have been a common denominator. I simply decided that I would have higher chances of being at the heart of the matter by being close to you."

Adam did not lose his composure when she heard her point that out, "You are lying or rather, you are hiding many details about the situation from us. I have been dealing with women of your kind lately and honestly, it's starting to push on my nerves a little" He shook his head, "I do not want to have the church as an enemy but if you do anything that I judge to be dangerous for me…"

Elysia simply blinked her eyes slowly and then realized that his finger was just a few inches away from her eyes, "I will make you live your worst nightmare, and heed me when I say this… I do not make empty threats."

Adam's temper had never been one to go to the extreme no matter what the situation may be. He liked to be in control, be it the situation, or his emotions and psyche. However, ever since the time he had let go of himself while facing Lycaon, he had come to realize the importance of not being in control all the time. It was tiring and wearing his feelings on his sleeves on some occasions was necessary for him to not lose his mind.

He also hated how everyone around him seemed to be able to see the future in one way or another and try to push him toward the direction they thought to be the best and aligned with their goals.

It was tiring. It was exhausting. It was disgusting.

He finally turned to Luvia, and the chill that had crept up his face melted ever so slightly, "I am sorry you have to see all of this. Your name is Luvia, right? Do you know Sae?"

Luvia nodded hurriedly, "She is the main student of Lady Bishop. We are friends… I think?"

She seemed a little hesitant at the end of her speech, as though she were not sure herself what her relationship with Adam's lover was like. In essence, her bond with Sae was strange as she saw her more as a rival than a friend, she also didn't want him to think she was using her relationship with Sae to get closer to him and in his good graces. No, there were fewer things she wanted more than to get as far away from him as possible at the moment.

She had the feeling that she would be erased from existence if she were to show any signs of getting closer to The Magician in front of these women. Especially, the Ghost Spider.

"Sae talked a bit about you. She said you have been a great friend to her. She may be a little handful but thanks for taking care of her in the Academy. She won't tell you but your company definitely helped her in that isolated place."

Luvia waved her hand in a hurry, "We just generally fight. Ah! I mean. We don't fight as in being enemies! But, like… We fight for training? Or something like that?"

Her flustered appearance was quite cute and Adam did not wish to embarrass the poor girl any further.

"I understand. So, as a witch, tell me what you can do?"

"I know many useful spells that could come in handy for us on this mission. For example, mass teleportation. Though I need some ingredients and exact coordinates. I can also open Gates between two positions as long as I leave my mark."

"Oh. You mean like the Gate the Dwarves us?"

"Exactly! While this falls in the domain of space manipulation, it's in fact a pretty simple spell albeit limited in actual combat."

Be it mass teleportation or the gate between two points, she needed to set everything beforehand to fuel the actual technique. Of course, powerful witches who specialized in space might be able to instantly teleport them but it just wasn't her style.

"That is already pretty good."

She beamed at the praise. She had always been trained for fighting but Luvia had secretly learned many miscellaneous spells and skills that she thought would prove useful if she had to survive alone.

It seemed like she had been right given the approval of The Magician.

"I can also track people and erase our tracks, create water, and conjure food if it's necessary. Oh, I also learned how to talk to animals so they can also be a source of information for us."

She gave a few of her most useful skills, mentioning nothing of combat whatsoever. She knew it would be foolish of her to do that in front of people who could probably level city blocks.

The more she spoke of her skills the more Adam was surprised and he realized that he had been underestimating the Silver ranked girl a bit too much. She might be weak when pitted against them but she was certainly versatile, knowledgeable in many survival techniques and useful utilizations, and she was still very young. Once she became older and more experienced… it would be a sight worth seeing, he'd wager.

Something though was bothering him, "Are you a druid or a witch?"

He asked jokingly but Luvia nodded her head a bit too intensely for his liking, "I have a high affinity with elemental spirits and can also beseech nature spirits without signing a contract with them."

This time, even the other three women were impressed by her capabilities.

Seeing their looks, Luvia puffed a little proudly, showing a bit of her true self that had been layered by panic, stress, and tension.

At least— she wasn't completely useless to them, right?

Adam continued his discussion with her but at the same time, he was having a second discussion with Mark, who had left ahead of them.

Why waste time when he was capable of multitasking?
