Chapter 34

Chapter 34

Zhen Yuanbai had been busy lately, so he stopped talking to Shi Bufan. He said confidently, “I’m preparing your birthday present.”

He wouldn’t kiss or hug him. He’s been badly spoiled.

However, one would eventually be tired of learning. Shi Bufan brought the skateboard back to school and then lazily stepped on it downstairs. Whenever he passed by, he acted handsomely and made the girls’ hearts pound rapidly, wishing to confess right then.

Although he was notorious for his misdeeds, he was handsome. Since the school tyrant seemed to be becoming a better student, there had been students who were waiting to watch a show, but there were others who were silently waiting for a miracle.

“Is your lil brother not talking to you?” Ye Lian sat on the sports field and placed his hands behind him, slightly sighing. He just came back from the stadium. Qiu Jing and Ming Mai were still playing ball while Shi Bufan skated across them, uninterested. “He’s been busy lately, saying that he’s going to prepare a birthday present for me.”

“Well, look at you bragging now.” Ye Lian rolled his eyes and grabbed a water bottle, opening it and taking a gulp. Shi Bufan curled the corner of his lips up and skated up and down, saying, “So bored. Was I that bored as well before I lost my memory?”

“Of course you weren’t bored in the past. Either you skipped classes, or you played ball, or you went to an internet cafe or even caused trouble. From time to time, you would participate in a race car competition or go to the billiards to provoke people and get into fights...” Ye Lian suddenly felt an itch and said, “Why don’t we go to the billiards now?”

“I promised him that I wouldn’t skip classes.” Shi Bufan shoved his hands into his pockets and continued to sway back and forth. Ye Lian felt dizzy and he said, “You had fallen from your skateboard and hurt your head just like that. How come you’re not scared of this happening again? You dared to skate downstairs again?”

Shi Bufan finally stopped and asked, “Where did I fall?”

“The slope by the north door, within the forest.” Shi Bufan tilted his head and recalled, feeling something flash by in his mind. “I didn’t even fall when I was just skating downstairs, so how did I fall over there?”

“If you play with fire, you’ll eventually get burned. So what if you fell? You’re pretty good right now. In the past, you used to be very upset as if someone had owed you money.” It was unknown what Ye Lian had thought of, but he chuckled a bit and emphasized, “It’s pretty good now. It’s really good.”

Shi Bufan knitted his eyebrows and suddenly stepped on the corner of the skateboard, catching it as it bounced. “That’s not right. Let’s go there and take a look.”

Ye Lian didn’t want to go. “So tired. When my brother heard that you started to become a better student, he would confiscate my phone and cut off my internet when it’s time. I haven’t played any games in a while.”

Shi Bufan directly walked out and Ye Lian grabbed the water bottle, standing up. He called Qiu Jing and the others, saying, “Come! Let’s go cause some trouble!”

The basketball bounced to the side and Ming Mai flew over, saying, “Brother Shi, are you awake now? Who are we beating up? Do you want us to collect the protection fee?”

Shi Bufan snorted and said, “You think I need protection fee with how wealthy I am?”

Qiu Jing laughed out loud and said, “Well, you don’t know now. We’re not going to collect our fellow classmate’s protection fee, but the scumbag who forced you to hand in the protection fee at that time. Brother, do you remember? Sigh, you act like a fool when you have amnesia.”

Shi Bufan kicked him.

Half an hour later, the group squatted down by the tree next to the slope, staring straight at it. The tree seemed to be old and it had deep tree roots. There was a part of it that was fixed on the ground and there were some bulging bumps on the tree trunk. Shi Bufan had been knocked out by that bump.

He grabbed his skateboard and slid over. His moves were fluent and beautiful, steadily landing. Then, he glanced at the people squatting down, waving his hands to have them move out of the way. He then suddenly charged over and in order to balance his body, he slightly bent his body over as the skateboard slid on the flat ground. He even played a trick while doing so and turned around while he was it.

“We’re not Detective Conan, so why are we just here trying to analyze the situation?” Qiu Jing was confused and asked, “Why are you suddenly curious?”

“I was just bored, so I thought of this.”

Ming Mai suddenly said, “Did someone do something to you?”

Shi Bufan glanced at him and Ye Lian said, “If Shengsan High School’s people come to block you, even if they outnumber us, there was no need for them to resort to these methods, right? Plus, there would be too many targets.”

“Who knows if it’s just one of them coming to fight Brother Shi?”

“Which fool dares to do that? Aren’t they afraid that they might just make a sacrifice for no reason?”

“...That’s right.”

Shi Bufan squatted on the skateboard and then slowly slid down. Then, he allowed the other three slags to cosplay as the famous detective. He got up and then slid down and then up and then down. Suddenly, he raised his head and seemed to see a pair of clean white hands.

The skateboard slowly slid down and then finally stopped. Shi Bufan remained unmoved for a long time.

“What are you thinking about? Did you remember everything now?”

Ye Lian walked down and then suddenly saw his scary expression. His heart thumped and then he moved over, asking, “You really remember everything?”

Zhen Yuanbai buried his head and worked hard on doing his work when the classroom door was suddenly kicked open, making him jump.

In the past, Shi Bufan had been very annoying and an evil tyrant. When he curled his lips up and glanced at people, one would always think of him as the devil. But after he lost his memory, Shi Bufan was much better. Although it was hard to change his nature, it didn’t feel like he would beat someone up constantly. But at this moment, Zhen Yuanbai felt like he had seen the past Shi Bufan and couldn’t help but be scared.

When Shi Bufan’s gaze landed on Zhen Yuanbai, he was in a much better mood. He reached over and looked at Zhen Yuanbai’s notebook and he said, “Good afternoon.”

“Good afternoon.” Zhen Yuanbai responded obediently.

He didn’t know what happened to Shi Bufan, but he didn’t seem to be in a good mood. Zhen Yuanbai couldn’t help but sneak a peek at Shi Bufan, but he got caught, so he quickly turned around.

Quickly, Shi Bufan tossed him a note and Zhen Yuanbai secretly glanced at the teacher before his curiosity took over. When he saw the other party’s carelessly written words, he said, “I’ll let you look at it when you’re home.”

Shi Bufan wasn’t that good in school, but he had nice handwriting. Zhen Yuanbai folded the note neatly and then placed it into his pencil case.

Song Mo stared at him strangely and wrote some words on his paper, bumping Zhen Yuannbai. The latter tilted his head and looked over to see: you changed.

Zhen Yuanbai was confused.

While sneaking a peek at the teacher, Song Mo wrote: you would never open Shi Bufan’s note in class in the past. You’ve been influenced by him now.

Zhen Yuanbai froze and withdrew his gaze as if he was burned, pursing his lips softly.

I was just following the basic rules within dating. Although it’s fake, it’s called assuming your responsibility as long as you take on that role. It’s called dedication.

He found an excuse for himself and then hid the pencil case.

Lately, Zhen Yuanbai didn’t attend evening study sessions. He would say that there was something important for him to do at home because the moment he got out of school. Zhen Youxiu came to pick him up. Therefore, Shi Bufan valued the time it took to walk from the classroom to the front door. He patiently waited for his elder brother to finish packing up before the two walked out of the classroom.

Zhen Yuanbai wanted to say something but stopped. Shi Bufan glanced at him and asked, “What’s the matter?”

“What’s wrong with you today? You didn’t seem to be too happy.”

Shi Bufan didn’t really want to talk to him about it, but he was scared of scaring Zhen Yuanbai. “It’s fine. I just remembered some things.”

Zhen Yuanbai’s heart uncontrollably jumped and he grabbed the backpack’s straps, walking slower. “You, did you think of something?”

“It’s better if I don’t talk.” Shi Bufan didn’t want to mention it to him, but Zhen Yuanbai was unlike the guy in the past. He walked a few more steps and then murmured, “Did, did you remember everything?”

“No.” Shi Bufan said, “I went to the place that I fell at today out of boredom...If I tell you, I’m scared that you might get nightmares. I’m not going to tell you.”

Zhen Yuanbai’s heart was in his throat and he held in his breath, carefully asking, “You. Stop making it suspenseful. Just what did you remember?”

Shi Bufan wanted to laugh at his coward expression and he softly said, “You really want to know?”

Zhen Yuanbai nodded firmly.

“Then don’t cry.”

Zhen Yuanbai was on the verge of crying when Shi Bufan said this. His eyes became faintly red and asked, “Just what happened?”

Shi Bufan stopped the suspense and moved closer to Zhen Yuanbai, saying in a deep voice, “I think I got pushed down the slope.”

Zhen Yuanbai gulped heavily and he slightly widened his eyes, face obviously pale white. Shi Bufan felt bad when he said this, pinching his face. “See, I knew you were going to be afraid. But, don’t worry. I don’t think that person wants to kill me. After all, I’ve lost my memory for a while and I didn’t notice any suspicious people...It should just be an accident.”

Although he said this, Shi Bufan felt as if something was off. He knew that he wouldn’t feel good since he couldn’t figure out who made him lose his memory, especially when he felt as if someone wanted to kill him on purpose. Shi Bufan had a heavy heart, but his little classmate was on the verge of crying. Therefore, Shi Bufan immediately comforted Zhen Yuanbai, saying, “Don’t be scared. I’ll definitely find the person and make him pay.”

Zhen Yuanbai’s tears were about to flow down and he hurriedly looked down, nodding.

“Ok, stop crying. Don’t be afraid, ok?” Shi Bufan tilted his head to look at Zhen Yuanbai’s expression and the latter slightly lifted his head, saying in a well-behaved tone, “Ok.”

But seeing that he hadn’t been talking the entire time, it was clear that he was extremely worried.

While feeling sweet in his heart, Shi Bufan also felt very bad. He shouldn’t have told him.

Zhen Youxiu brought Zhen Yuanbai home and the latter was feeling down the entire time. Up until they got to the door, Zhen Youxiu finally asked, “Did Shi Bufan hit you?”

He didn’t, but he’s not far from doing that.

Zhen Yuanbai had a heavy heart and was dejected, making Zhen Youxiu scrunch his eyebrows. He questioned him and suddenly raised his eyebrows, asking, “What? You got exposed? Or you’re about to?”

He suddenly laughed happily and continued, “I told you to stay away from him, but you just had to pretend like he was your brother. Once he realizes, watch him beat you up.”

Zhen Yuanbai stayed silent and he walked out when the elevator opened. When Zhen Youxiu saw Zhen Yuanbai’s teary eyes, he stopped joking around.

Useless stupid brother.

He parked the car and chased his brother into the room, asking, “From now on, break off any relations with him. Don’t let him be that close to you. That way, he might not remember as quickly.”

Zhen Yuanbai looked up and pursed his lips.

Zhen Yuanbai crossed his arms over his chest and he said, “After all, you don’t have any other better methods, right? Just do as I say. Don’t go to his house this week. Otherwise, if he remembers, you can’t even run away from him.”

Zhen Yuanbai thought he was saying the accurate thing, but he disliked this stupid kid ordering him. He couldn’t tell that Zhen Youxiu was concerned for him, so he said, “Go out.”

It felt like the world had crumbled from his expression and Zhen Youxiu finally had some conscience, saying, “Aren’t you just afraid that he might beat you up?”

Zhen Yuanbai looked down and rummaged through the backpack, his wet eyelashes flickering. Zhen Youxiu continued, “Actually, even if he recovered his memory, he might not beat you up.”

Zhen Yuanbai immediately raised his head and a tint of hope appeared in his eyes.

Zhen Youxiu looked around and then slowly threatened, “I feel like there’s more of a chance that he might kill you.”
